SUMMARY:This is a contracted professional position responsible for the instruction of one or more subjects to K-12 school-aged minors. The UMP Summer Teacher conducts developmentally appropriate activities for children according to the Unaccompanied Minors Program regulatory guidelines and licensing requirements. The incumbent must demonstrate sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.

Essential Job Functions Service Delivery & Care Tasks- Oversees, plans, and manages education, care, safety, and well-being of each child.
- Develops daily lesson plans and strategies based on funding requirements addressing individual needs.
- Arranges classroom environment according to regulatory guidelines.
- Promotes health and safety precautions.
- Maintains a clean environment, including the classroom.
- Demonstrates regular attendance and punctuality.
- Completes assessments and records for children as per guidelines.
- Prepares children’s Progress Reports.
- Reports suspected child abuse and neglect immediately as per Florida law.
- Makes timely reports of accidents or incidents.
- Adheres to regulatory guidelines, policies, procedures, and accreditation standards.
- Ensures accurate data entry in required databases.
- Performs duties professionally and courteously.
- Maintains knowledge of policies and procedures.
- Maintains professionalism with supervisors, staff, and volunteers.
- Maintains confidentiality where appropriate.
- Builds cooperative working relationships.
- Attends professional meetings and workshops.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Ability to lift children up to 50 lbs., and perform physical activities such as bending, walking, and squatting.
- Use hands and fingers for handling and reaching.
- Detect unsafe situations visually or audibly and respond quickly.
- Work in a classroom setting with moderate to loud noise levels.
- Occasional exposure to weather conditions.
- Exposure to various illnesses.
- Bachelor’s degree, certified by relevant authority, with training for unaccompanied children.
- Sensitivity to cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish.
