Title
Lead Instructor

Salary Range$19.00 per hour (non‑negotiable)
Qualifications and Competencies- Bilingual (Creole or Spanish); reads and writes well in English
- Preferred A.A. or Degree in Education or High school diploma
- Available to work the required program hours
- Reliable personal transportation and personal cellular phone
- Demonstrated experience working with children in K‑8th
- Positive response to criminal background check (fingerprint)
- Basic computer skills
- Must obtain a Florida Child Care Professional Certificate (DCF 45 hours)
This position is responsible for providing program support to the Site Coordinator and Instructors in ensuring that the work of the GPS program includes logistical and communication support to coordinate program business, administrative matters, and direct instruction, supervision, care and support of children served. GPS Instructor services include facilitating session outreach and resource development, linking clients to appropriate support services as directed by the Site Coordinator.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provides administrative support services
- Collects data promptly and submits to Site Coordinator for data entry
- Direct instruction of children/youth; each site requires one specialty area: reading, social skills, physical education, arts
- Assessment testing of students within assigned specialty area (pre‑, mid‑, post‑)
- Creates a positive, enriching academic environment for the children
- Assists children with completion of daily school homework and attendance
- Works creatively and independently with the children
- Ensures children’s nutritional needs are met through daily snack (or lunch/snack during longer program day)
- Follows daily activity schedule set by the Site Supervisor
- Models and reinforces washing of hands and cleanliness, especially before meals/snacks and after using the bathroom
- Demonstrates respect for parents at all times and invites them to join regular program activities and special parent events
- Maintains a clean, safe area for the children
- Attends staff trainings outside program hours to improve professional skills and enhance the program activities
- Assists children in using an educational computer lab
- Responsible for set‑up and upkeep of Kidblog student publishing program
- Participates in agency meetings, in‑service training, and workshops as deemed appropriate
- Performs other duties as necessary
