Join United Way Miami as an Early Childhood Lead Teacher, providing a safe and nurturing environment for children from birth through kindergarten. The role collaborates with the Demonstration School director and lead teacher to implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum that aligns with UWM and NAEYC guidelines.

Job Overview

The Lead Teacher designs and delivers a reflective curriculum, observes and documents development, and responds to individual and group needs. The position promotes cultural sensitivity, positive discipline, and constructive play while maintaining a well‑organized, safe classroom environment.

Salary and Work Location

Annual salary: $41,209.00 – $48,619.00

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum with Mentor Teachers.
  • Observe, document, and analyze each child’s growth to inform instructional planning.
  • Use data to create individualized action plans and share insights with families.
  • Model positive behavior, practice positive discipline, and support flexible learning experiences.
  • Facilitate reflective planning cycles:
    Observe, Document, Discuss, Plan, Implement, Review.
  • Communicate daily with families, including conferences, home visits, and shared resources.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and healthy classroom environment, following all safety and health rules.
  • Protect confidentiality of child and family information.
  • Lead the teaching team in setting classroom goals and conducting reflective supervision.
  • Collaborate with Center staff, participate in events, and model teamwork.
  • Act within authority to manage incidents, record safety events, and report significant injuries.
Requirements

Education: Minimum bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in early childhood education, child development, elementary education, or early childhood special education. Candidates should have experience with children from birth through kindergarten, infant/toddler CDA, and meet 45 DCF hours/15 in‑service hours per year. Bilingual preferred.

Technology: Knowledge of modern web browsers, Intermediate Word, Beginning Excel, and Beginning Outlook.

Flexibility, Visible Thinking, Multiple Intelligences, Dual Language, Inclusion, Early Literacy strategies, Reflective Supervision. Understanding of Head Start performance standards and the Educare model.
