Summer Reading Explorers Program, funded by The Children’s Trust, provides evidence‑based small‑group literacy instruction to kindergarten, first‑grade and second‑grade students throughout Miami‑Dade County. The Center for Children and Families (CCF) at FIU seeks PreK‑12 regular and special education teachers to serve as Summer Reading Tutors. Tutors will deliver 30‑ or 45‑minute small‑group reading instruction to approximately eight groups daily (no more than five children per group).
They will also recruit students, assess individual progress, communicate with parents, conduct make‑up intervention sessions as needed, attend weekly team‑planning meetings, maintain paperwork and complete data entry.

Minimum: High school diploma and one year of experience in subject areas or equivalent combination of education/experience.
Desired: Bachelor’s or higher‑level degree in Education/Special Education, Psychology/Mental Health or related field with field experience working with children in school, after‑school or summer settings.

Working Schedule- Monday through Friday
Summer salary of $7,000 (returners $7,500). Tutors will work a minimum of eight hours per day, Monday through Friday.
