Position OverviewThis Adjunct faculty member teaches courses in Ballet and/or Modern Dance techniques. The instructor may choreograph and direct high school and college students in choreographic works. Experience or knowledge in Anatomy and Kinesiology, Dance Composition and Improvisation, and related dance academics is desirable.
Courses may be taught in an array of modalities: MDC In‑Person, MDC Live (virtual interactive), MDC Online, and Blended Classes.
Responsibilities- Teach lecture and laboratory sections.
- Evaluate and advise students.
- Participate in departmental and college affairs.
- Develop curricula.
- Recruit students.
- Serve on committees.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Master's degree in Dance from a regionally accredited institution, or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate credit hours in Dance.
- Professional dance experience preferred.
- Professional level dance teaching experience preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well with students, faculty, staff, and the community, including high school, college, and university level students.
- Ability to work in a multi‑ethnic / multicultural environment.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments.
