Job Summary

The Center for Children and Families at FIU is hiring Lead Counselors for the 2026 summer program. The position is Monday, June through Friday, July, with a workday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Counselors will supervise a small group of counselors, implement a behavior‑modification treatment program in classroom and recreational settings, and provide daily communication with parents. The role includes leadership training, preparation of treatment summaries, and staff evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Lead academic and sport centers (e.g., English/Language Arts, Math, Science, Writing, soccer, kickball, tee ball).

• Deliver evidence‑based reading intervention and large group instruction components.

• Supervise and train group counselors in the daily activities and treatment components.

• Review program plans, activity logs, and daily tracking forms for accuracy and fidelity.

• Monitor individual behavior progress, create target behavior plans, and adjust programming as needed.

• Maintain daily communication with parents and work under the supervision of Ph.D. clinicians.

Qualifications

• Minimum – Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, Behavior Analysis, Social Work, or a related field and experience working with children and teenagers.

• Desired – Graduate‑level study or extensive experience in clinical psychology, school psychology, mental health counseling, social work, education/special education, or related fields.

• Research, clinical, leadership, or field experience working or volunteering with children or adolescents.

• Experience in summer camps, after‑school programs, sports programs, daycare programs, or educational settings.

• Preferred experience with organized sports, art, music, dance, theater, journalism, photography, and videography.

Work Schedule

• Monday‑Friday 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Salary

The salary for this temporary position is $10,152 for the summer.
