Position Overview

The Part‑Time Instructor provides training for students enrolled in the curriculum of the Fire Science Program (non‑credit) as prescribed by Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) and Florida Administrative Code (FAC).

What you will be doing
  • Provides instruction and training in classroom lectures
  • Prepares and distributes course outline/syllabi to students
  • Identifies students requiring assistance and recommends improvements as needed
  • Assists in the development and delivery of material and instructional lesson plans
  • Completes all necessary and assigned paperwork in a timely manner
  • Maintains academic progress and attendance rosters as assigned
  • Complies and provides training for other staff members on policy and procedures
  • Participates in workshops and trainings
  • Serves on campus committees as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned
What you need to succeed
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from a regional accredited institution and six (6) years’ experience with the Fire Department
  • Current State certification as Fire Science Instructor
  • Successful completion of an approved Fire Service Course Design class
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
  • Possess well‑developed communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Physical ability to perform the necessary tasks associated with the training
  • Ability to work in inclement weather under adverse conditions
  • Ability to recognize safety hazards and take corrective actions to ensure a safe environment
  • Ability to positively interact with staff, students, and faculty
  • Possess an aptitude for teaching and interest in working with students
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evening and weekend assignments
  • Ability to work well with students, faculty, and staff
Additional Requirements

The final candidate is to successfully complete a background screening and reference check process.
