The Division of Health Services Research & Policy seeks an exceptional candidate for a research track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank. The selected individual will build and develop an innovative biostatistical program of research, particularly in global and humanitarian health, and mentor the next generation of leaders in prevention science and community health.
Responsibilities- Teach within the University of Miami’s MPH and PhD Graduate Programs in Public Health and/or Biostatistics.
- Advise MPH, MSPH, and PhD graduate students academically.
- Develop and maintain a campus-wide program leveraging institutional intellectual capital.
- Obtain and manage externally funded independent research projects.
- Represent the Division, Department, and University at professional meetings locally, nationally, and internationally.
- Motivate students with innovative courses that foster strategic thinking.
- Publish seminal research findings in high-impact peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, and books.
- Collaborate with other faculty to secure trans-disciplinary research funding.
- Lead and implement collaborations for scholarly and educational initiatives within and outside the University.
- Develop and maintain a robust portfolio of academic research, publications, and teaching.
- Apply for research grants to support own research agenda.
- Plan and organize seminars and symposia; lecture in other courses as requested.
- Serve on committees at MSOM and affiliated hospitals as needed.
- Write and publish academic papers in journals, both independently and with co-authors.
- Mentor graduate and medical students at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and other campuses.
- Present research at conferences.
- Ph.D. with graduate training in biostatistics or statistics and experience in global health.
- Evidence of statistical methodology publications.
- Significant publication record in peer-reviewed biomedical journals with emphasis on machine learning and big data.
- Demonstrated ability to lead innovative research projects to successful conclusions.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, including teaching experience and presentations at scientific meetings.
- Meet departmental and institutional teaching standards.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for communicating with faculty, staff, and students.
- Ability to meet all responsibilities of the position.
