We are seeking an energetic and experienced Mechanical Engineer in our Miami, FL office. Our ideal candidate will have exceptional working knowledge of building design with emphasis on multifamily residential, and mixed
-use high rise, hospitality and commercial. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for performing various types of inspections, testing, and producing plans, specifications and reports for clients. This is a technical and managerial position that requires providing solutions and managing projects from start to finish, through all project phases ranging from feasibility studies and conceptual design, schematic design, construction documents and construction administration, bidding and project close-out.
Lead small to medium scale HVAC projects and the roll out of mechanical HVAC engineering initiatives. Assist with development and implementation of mechanical HVAC engineering design standards, policies and procedures. Effectively interacts with other internal and external teams.
Requirements
Technical
- Utilizes technical expertise to support architectural and engineering design processes.
- Performs design, calculations and CAD drawings.
- Performs peer review of other technical data prepared by third party entities.
- Perform inspections, including site investigations, data collection, analysis, to determine the root cause of failures, defects, or other issues.
- Performs a wide range of testing, including but not limited to material testing, structural analysis, and performance evaluations.
- Supervises testing activities and ensures accurate data collection for the accurate interpretation of results.
- Assist in the development and review of technical specifications, drawings, and construction documents.
- Generate comprehensive field reports detailing observations, measurements, and findings from site visits and inspections.
- Generate expert reports that provide in-depth analysis, conclusions, and recommendations based on project requirements and findings.
- Effective communication skills to relay report content and observations to stakeholders during meetings.
- Works closely with the team to understand the scope of work, budget, goals, deliverables, and timeline to ensure project success.
- Provide assistance, advice and recommendations to different team members regarding technical issues on various projects.

Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Mechanical Engineering.
- Five plus years of experience in MEP Consulting and design engineering services environment.
- Professional Engineer license required.
- Maintain compliance with licensing requirements and applicable regulations.
- OSHA
-10 Certification preferred. - Valid United States Driver’s License required, as this position requires travel to and from client sites.
- Proficient written and verbal communication abilities.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in project documentation and deliverables.
- Strong project management and organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects concurrently.
- Knowledge of FL building codes (ASHRAE, ASME, NFPA) regulations, and standards.
- Deep understanding of heating and cooling calculations and familiarity with load calculation software such as Trane Trace, Carrier HAP or similar.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design including HVAC, chillers, cooling towers, domestic hot water boilers, hydronic piping systems, heat pumps and other applicable systems.
- Ability to coordinate HVAC system controls.
- Ability to develop sections and elevations for complex ductwork and piping areas as well as air and water flow diagrams.
