Role description:

Arcadis is currently seeking a highly motivated Sr. Power System Planning & Study Engineer to join the Power Delivery team in the USA.

This is a technical position within the Power Delivery unit of Arcadis. The role involves coordinating and developing the Power System Planning & Study team, and/or performing HVAC and HVDC planning/feasibility studies, interconnection studies, transient studies, and systems analysis investigations primarily for clients in North America, but also globally. The incumbent will work closely with other departments such as Substation Engineering, Transmission Engineering, Protection & Control Engineering, and Renewables, as well as with other divisions on related system studies and power sector master plans.

Role accountabilities:
  • Support, develop, and deliver various complex power system study & planning projects for regulated, non-regulated, developer, or other industrial clients.
  • Perform and review power systems analysis activities including load-flow, short-circuit, transient stability, electromagnetic transient, small-signal stability analysis, system impact study, reliability analysis, etc.
  • Perform planning/system performance studies and transient studies for compliance with standards, criteria, and good engineering practice.
  • Deliver accurate and thorough planning, studies, system design, report summaries, and other client deliverables that meet industry standards and specifications.
  • Ensure quality assurance on client reports and deliverables.
  • Coordinate with other Business Units and Practices for cross-selling and staffing opportunities. Develop project scopes, budgets, and proposals.

We seek a team player with excellent communication skills. The role may involve travel up to 25% within North America and internationally.

Qualifications &

Experience:

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering;
    Master’s preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in power system study analysis and planning.
  • Proficiency with PSSE, PSCAD, PSS/E, and experience with TARA, PSLF, DigSILENT, or DSA Tools is desirable.
  • Familiarity with North American Market Operators’ policies, regulations, and requirements, especially related to grid interconnection and planning.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PE License.
