How You Will Make an Impact
Frida is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Product Development team and have a strong track record of bringing consumer products to market. They will act as the bridge from product ideation to mass production, designing with manufacturing in mind while also pushing the envelope of what is currently possible. The Mechanical Design Engineer will have strong organizational and prioritization skills, staying on top of multiple projects at the same time.
The selected individual will love solving problems and can troubleshoot different kinds of product, manufacturing, or material challenges.
Responsibilities to include:
Project Management
Take on full responsibility for managing multiple design projects from ideation through production tooling release within a fast-paced development environmentManage projects according to key project indicators – schedule, budget, and qualityProduct Development
Transform product ideas and concepts into reality while following the stage-gate design processIdentify critical product characteristics and ensure integration into product designsIdentify the best materials and manufacturing methods to meet the performance needs of the product requirementsEstablish product manufacturing production specifications and first quality product metricsEvaluate product component changes and support the supply chain team with ongoing projectsSupport the qualification and tracking of tools, molds, and fixturesCross-Functional Leadership
Ensure cross-functional teamwork and communication with internal and external contacts to drive the progress of projects to planCollaborate with strategy, design, packaging engineering, regulatory, reliability, and operations teams to identify challenges and offer solutionsVendor Collaboration
Support the selection of components and final product manufacturers, including overseeing first shots through final article verificationMaintain regular communications supporting successful partnerships and manage project expectations and collaborative designsDomestic and international travel is required (15%)Deliverables:
Tool ready 3D product designProduct and material specificationsDesign for manufacturabilitySustaining engineering and updating and improving existing models to 4.5+ Stars!Input for reliability and regulatory testing requirementsOther projects as assignedWhat You Will Need
B.S. or higher in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Plastics Engineering, or equivalent work experience6-8+ years of Design Engineering experienceProficient in 2D, 3D CAD software (Solid Works preferred)Design for manufacturability experienceExperience and knowledge of various materials and manufacturing processes, including plastics injection manufacturingAbility to learn new concepts quicklyStrong organizational and multitasking skills with high attention to detailExcellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skillsFEA analysis, tooling design, and manufacturing experienceExperience developing products…
