Reporting to the National Practice Director, the Technical Manager will be the EOR on significant projects and lead a group of 4 to 8 engineers and detailers. Other duties include supporting our pursuit and marketing efforts throughout Florida with an emphasis on FDOT, FTE, CFX, and counties and cities in South Florida. Provides leadership, direction and technical guidance to staff to ensure that quality technical services are provided to clients and that the technical work unit meets its operating performance targets.
Manages project production, project acquisition/client relations, and financial management of the work unit to ensure quality, client satisfaction, continued production backlog, and profitability of all projects within the work unit.
- Staff Administration:
Identify current and future staffing availability based on technical and budgetary requirements. Recommend salary levels for new hires and initiate salary and position adjustments. Conduct performance reviews and career planning sessions. Provide performance feedback and counsel. Encourage professional development activities consistent with career goals and unit objectives. Ensure compliance with company policies. - Project Production and Management:
Allocate staff to projects considering schedules, budgets, milestones, and work products. Monitor and enforce quality control standards. Review project QC plans and periodic QA compliance audits. Assist staff in resolving problems concerning work across business units. - Technical Excellence:
Maintain visibility and professional currency by actively participating in professional and civic organizations. Work with Practice and Technical Directors to design and implement development tracks for technical staff, focusing on building technical excellence at all levels. - Marketing and Client Maintenance:
Participate in pursuing new project opportunities for the firm by maintaining contacts with current and prospective clients. - Contracts and Financial:
Assist sales leads project managers to staff new pursuits and contract negotiations. Approve purchase requests for capital items as specified in the Authorization Matrix. - Perform such other duties as the supervisor may deem necessary.
- Bachelor's degree in a field of practice. Postgraduate degree preferred. Management coursework and/or MBA a plus.
- 15 years of experience since B.S., with at least three years in positions with project management or supervisory responsibilities.
- Excellent technical and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to manage individuals and teams, provide leadership, and manage project production. Must have business vision, excellent communication skills, and ability to represent the firm effectively to clients, key public officials, and the community.
- PE required.

Expected compensation range is between $117,500 and $185,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographic location.
