Ports and Marine Senior Lead Engineer/Project Manager

WSP is seeking a senior lead engineer or project manager for ports and marine projects, with potential work locations including Raleigh, NC;
Miami+Tampa, FL;
Houston, TX;
San Diego+Irvine, CA.

Job Description

With over 40 years of experience, WSP is a leader in waterfront structural design for the U.S. Navy and worldwide. Our Maritime group works with major clients such as port authorities, the U.S. Coast Guard, terminal operators, contractors, and private entities. The role involves delivering innovative solutions to meet client objectives and tackle challenging projects.

Your Impact
  • Independently perform and supervise structural analysis and design for marine and upland components
  • Independently perform and supervise berthing and mooring analyses
  • Lead development of plans, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates for a variety of port and Navy projects
  • Understand maritime codes and references, including UFC, PIANC, ASCE‑61
  • Prepare basis of design, design calculations, technical reports, alternatives analysis, and study reports
  • Perform QA/QC reviews and understand interdisciplinary requirements for port projects
  • Attend client meetings and conduct site visits
  • Mentor developing port and maritime engineers
  • Apply responsible, ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in analysis and design of port structures
  • Professional Engineer license(s)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and compliance with health, safety, and anti‑harassment policies
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Experience in analyses and design of medium to large‑scale ports, maritime, or Navy structures, and preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates
  • Involvement in a National professional practice organization
  • Hands‑on analysis experience with SAP
