Office Engineer

Office Engineer I at HNTB – Miami, FL

• Assist Resident Engineer and/or Project Manager in the administration of construction contracts, interpret contract plans and specifications, and review contractor shop drawings and submittals for compliance.
• Maintain as-built record drawings, project files, and a records database including specifications, test results, and reports.
• Keep the inspector’s daily report of assigned work activities and review contractor monthly schedule submittals and pay estimates for approval.
• Coordinate testing, monitor services, and conduct quality control inspections.
• Log, track, and process requests for information, submittals, change orders, and other project deliverables.
• Prepare project progress reports, agendas, and meeting minutes; conduct pre‑construction meetings; and assist in preparing final project close‑out documents.
• Assist in the review, assembly, and processing of monthly progress payments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.

• Identify discrepancies or conflicts within documents and become familiar with quality inspections using checklists.
• Write daily inspection reports, track work performed, and compute pay item quantities at a basic level under guidance.
• Understand shop drawing review and read and interpret the contractor’s CPM schedule at a basic level.

• Engineer in Training (EIT).
• Experience with digital construction management software such as Constructware, Asite, or similar.
