JOB DESCRIPTION
The Tax Managing Director, SALT - Sales & Use Tax is responsible for advising and providing written tax advice to clients of the sales & use tax implications relating to their business objectives, evaluating alternate courses of action to lessen tax burden and cost of compliance, recognizing potential tax risks, and identifying potential changes in the sales & use tax statutes, policies, and regulations.
- Research:
Identifies complex sales & use tax situations, develops relationships with state Department of Tax personnel, and analyzes researched facts. - Tax Compliance:
Conducts detailed reviews of sales & use tax returns, evaluates company compliance processes, and provides customized solutions. - Tax Consulting:
Drafts tax memorandums, reviews client operations, and applies state tax consulting sub-specialties. - Tax Controversy:
Drafts responses to state taxing authorities and represents clients in contested sales & use tax issues. - Other duties:
Utilizes sales & use tax research databases, provides technical client service, and develops new sales & use tax strategies.
Qualifications, Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a relevant field required, Master's degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in state and local/multistate tax required, prior experience supervising tax professionals required.
- CPA certification or other relevant certification preferred, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and standard tax applications.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, superior analytical and research skills, and solid organizational skills.
Salary Range
National Range: $157,500 - $420,000, location-specific ranges may vary.
