Senior Associate, State & Local Tax - Asset Management

Responsibilities- Participate in multi‑state alternative investment firms (hedge fund, fund‑to‑fund, private equity, real estate) with state and local tax issues including compliance, advising, planning, and controversies.
- Support multi‑state companies in state and local tax controversies: prepare clients for auditor discussions, represent them at hearings and appeal meetings, and draft protests.
- Collaborate with a multi‑disciplinary team to provide subject matter expertise and industry knowledge.
- Review information presented on state income tax returns before, during, and after preparation.
- Build and manage client relationships, supervise, mentor, and develop staff.
- Research and draft technical memoranda on income, franchise, sales, and use tax questions.
- Minimum of two years of experience performing tax research and preparing state income tax returns for pass‑through and corporate entities, and providing technical advice on multi‑state tax issues.
- Bachelor’s degree, J.D., LL.M. in Taxation, or Master’s in Taxation (MST) from an accredited college/university.
- Experience serving pass‑through entities and solid knowledge of relevant state tax concepts.
- Strong ability to foster relationships internally and with clients.
- Energetic team player with a desire to perform in a high‑energy environment.
- Excellent writing, compliance, communication, and tax research skills.
