POSITION Summary
The Head of Finance will serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and leadership team. This individual will be responsible for overseeing all financial functions of the company, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic alignment with the business objectives. The Head of Finance (Finance Director) will play a critical role in driving efficiency, optimizing resources, improving profitability, and enabling data-driven decision-making to support the company’s growth trajectory.
EssentialJob Functions Financial Planning & Analysis
Lead the development of budgets, forecasts, and financial models to guide business decisions.
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
Create and maintain management dashboards and KPIs.
Resource Control & OptimizationManage cash flow, working capital, and liquidity.
Implement cost‑reduction strategies and margin optimization initiatives.
Negotiate with suppliers, lenders, and financial institutions to secure favorable terms.
Risk Management & ComplianceEnsure adherence to financial, tax, and regulatory requirements.
Implement effective internal controls and governance structures.
Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies.
Business Growth & TransformationSupport the CEO in strategic planning and execution of growth initiatives.
Establish financial processes and systems to support aggressive scaling.
Drive process improvements, automation, and efficiency across financial operations.
Performance & Profitability AnalysisConduct profitability analysis at the client, contract, and business line level.
Recommend strategies to enhance operational efficiency and long‑term sustainability.
Team LeadershipBuild, develop, and manage a high‑performing finance team. Currently consists of three but will grow as the company grows in the near term.
Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
THE CANDIDATEEducationBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related field.
MBA or post‑graduate degree in Finance, Business, or related discipline preferred.
CPA or equivalent certification is a plus.
Experience10+ years of progressive hands‑on finance leadership experience (i.e., Director of Finance, Head of Finance, VP of Finance, Sr. Controller) ideally within small to mid‑sized high‑growth companies ($40M to $350M in revenue).
Proven record of accomplishment of scaling finance operations and implementing robust financial processes in entrepreneurial high growth environments.
Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and performance management.
Well‑rounded operational background in accounting, treasury, tax, FP&A.
Experience with automotive‑related industries (dealers, rental, wholesalers) is a plus.
Background in working with banks, funds, and capital markets for financing structures.
Demonstrated ability to lead financial transformations, cost optimization initiatives, and operational improvements.
SkillsHands‑on with a strategic and analytical mindset with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
Excellent negotiation skills and ability to manage banking and supplier relationships.
Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills across all levels of the organization. Able to motivate the team.
