Head of Finance and Accounting

Taily is a fast‑growing pet wellness brand focused on clean, effective supplements for dogs. We’re scaling quickly across DTC, Amazon, Chewy, and creator‑driven channels and are building a lean, high‑ownership team. We’re looking for someone who wants real responsibility and real impact.

We’re hiring a Finance & Accounting Manager to own the financial foundation of the business. This role sits at the intersection of accounting, cost analysis, and financial planning. You will be responsible for clean books, clear margin visibility by channel, and forward‑looking projections that help leadership make better decisions. This is not a CFO role and not a junior bookkeeping role;

you’ll be the internal owner of financial accuracy and clarity, working closely with the CEO and COO.

• Own the accuracy of monthly books and financial statements
• Manage or coordinate with an external bookkeeping firm
• Ensure proper categorization by channel (DTC, Amazon, Chewy, creators, retail)
• Reconcile COGS, inventory, and landed costs
• Support monthly close and reporting cadence

• Build and maintain true landed COGS per SKU
• Track contribution margins by channel
• Analyze ad spend, creator costs, and fulfillment fees
• Identify margin leakage and cost optimization opportunities

• Create clear channel‑level reporting on revenue and profitability
• Answer questions such as:
  Which channels are most profitable? How do margins shift as volume scales? What happens to cash when retail grows?

• Maintain rolling revenue forecasts
• Build a 13‑week cash flow model
• Support inventory planning with finance inputs
• Model scenarios for growth, hiring, and spend

• 5–8 years of experience in accounting, finance, or FP&A
• Experience in e‑commerce, CPG, DTC, or consumer brands strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of COGS, inventory accounting, and contribution margins
• Comfortable working with Quick Books, or similar systems
• Advanced Excel / Google Sheets skills
• Super detail‑oriented, organized, and proactive
• Able to communicate financial insights clearly to non‑finance leaders
• Passion for pets

• Not tax preparation (we work with external CPAs)
• Not a junior data‑entry bookkeeping position

• Base salary: $70,000 – $95,000 (depending on experience)
• Performance bonus tied to accuracy, margin visibility, and forecasting
