We are expanding our underwriting team and seeking an experienced Mortgage Underwriter to support a high-end, purchase-focused platform that serves discerning clients and complex transactions. This role is ideal for underwriters who value thoughtful credit analysis, judgment-based decisioning, and collaboration within a premium real estate environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Underwrite Non‑QM loan products
    , including DSCR, bank statement, and alternative income programs
  • Underwrite Conventional, FHA, VA, and USDA residential mortgage loans
  • Analyze borrower creditworthiness, income documentation, assets, liabilities, and complex financial profiles
  • Review property characteristics, appraisals, and collateral risk
  • Ensure all loans meet investor guidelines, internal credit standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Clearly communicate underwriting decisions, conditions, and alternatives to internal teams
  • Respond to product questions and scenario requests with sound credit guidance
  • Maintain quality, accuracy, and turnaround time standards
  • Assist with training and mentoring junior underwriters as needed
  • Stay current on guideline updates, investor overlays, and regulatory changes
Requirements:
  • Five or more years of recent mortgage underwriting experience
  • Demonstrated experience underwriting Non‑QM loans
    , including DSCR and bank statement programs
  • Strong appraisal review experience
  • Proficiency underwriting agency products (Conventional, FHA, VA, USDA)
  • Encompass experience is required
  • Solid understanding of federal and state mortgage regulations, including TILA, RESPA, and Fair Lending
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Professional communication style aligned with a high-end client and agent base
  • Ability to work in-person within a fast-paced, high-expectation environment
