Job Summary

The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine is currently seeking a Research Analyst II to join our team of professionals.

Duties
  • Provides support for the Division Director, and the Epidemiology and Biostatistics teams directors for the design, planning, and implementation of community-based epidemiological surveillance and research.
  • Participates actively and hands‑on in new data collection activities in the community and supports other research activities in the local communities (Miami‑Dade) as well as state, national, and international communities as they relate to applicable models of community-based research for the FIU COM activities.
  • Uses Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to compile data and geographic features into maps through cartographic techniques and spatial statistics to better support research endeavors. Enters, cleans, and organizes data to conform appropriate databases for the COM.
  • Supports activities related to data management, queries, and specialized or specific requests for data summary statements by the COM members.
  • Provides analytical support for epidemiology, biostatistics, evaluation, and community-based surveillance activities for the COM student's training experience, including determination and design of measurable outcomes.
  • Collaborates with other data and research activities (such as previously collected information analyses, linkage of databases, analysis of secondary data, literature search, writing reports, and others) performed by the Division and COM staff and faculty in grant proposals, presentations and research projects.
  • Collaborates as required with other partners such as other COM programs, College of Nursing and Health Sciences; also College of Social Work, Justice and Public Affairs and Stempel School of Public Health.
  • Collaborates with teaching activities carried out by the COM faculty in the Division.
  • Participate in statistical reviews and activities with the COM students and postgraduate students at affiliated and partner institutions as part of the evidence-based curriculum.
  • Performs related duties as required or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field and two (2) years of related experience, or a Master's degree.

Desired Qualifications

Master's degree in (with emphasis on Epidemiology and or Biostatistics) or Bachelors degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or Public Health and three years of appropriate experience.
