Position Overview

The Central Sterile Processing Technician Adjunct teaches courses in the lecture, laboratory and/or clinical setting. Courses may be taught in an array of teaching modalities: MDC In‑Person, MDC Live (Learning Interactively in a Virtual Environment), MDC Online (online delivery) and Blended Classes.

  • Provides instruction in Central Sterile Processing Technician courses
  • Evaluates and advises students
  • Develops curricula
  • Recruits students
  • Serves on committees
  • Performs other duties as assigned
What you need to succeed
  • Associate’s degree in a Health Care related field; or Associate’s degree; or Certificate in Surgical Technology from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited program at a regionally accredited institution; and Valid Certified Sterile Processing Distribution Technician (CSPDT) from Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc. (CBSPD); or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) from International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM);

    and Three (3) years of full‑time work experience as a Central Service Technician in a sterile processing department.
  • All degrees must be from regionally accredited institutions
  • Must possess excellent communication skills
  • Must be able to work well with students, faculty, staff and the community
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • Must be able to travel between campuses, clinical sites and off‑campus offering sites
  • Must possess basic computer skills
