Medical Simulation Technologist - Per Diem
Join the University of Miami's Gordon Center for Research in Medical Education, where we develop and disseminate innovative training programs using advanced technology and simulation systems. As a Per Diem Medical Simulation Technologist, you will work to facilitate on‑ and off‑site learner instruction, support simulation‑based curricula, skills testing, and quality improvement programs.
Responsibilities- Support daily operations of simulation training areas, including setting up, storing, and maintaining equipment and furniture.
- Maintain medical patient simulators and other training equipment, performing routine hardware and software checks, ensuring security and troubleshooting issues.
- Operate and troubleshoot audiovisual equipment in classrooms and auditoriums.
- Prepare pre‑simulation activities, such as programming patient scenarios.
- Provide pre‑briefing to learners and technical support during simulations; conduct post‑simulation activities, restoring training areas to pre‑scenario conditions.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop scenarios and standardize training procedures.
- Maintain documentation, resources, and inventory for simulation activities.
- Adhere to University and unit‑level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in a relevant field preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a medical or simulation environment.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and prioritization skills; ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
- Ability to process confidential information with discretion.
- Availability for evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer software.
- Experience with programming, operating, and troubleshooting simulation manikins and related equipment (e.g., Laerdal Sim Man 3G, ALS manikin, Simpad, Gaumard simulators, task trainers, monitors/defibrillators, audiovisual equipment).
- Problem‑solving skills to address technical issues in real‑time situations.
- Effective communication in written and spoken English.
- Physical ability to lift up to 75 pounds and occasional exposure to electrical or mechanical energy.
