Medical Assistant 2, Full Time
University of Miami
Work Location: UHealth Tower
Schedule: 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday
Sign‑On Bonus: Up to $5,000
As a Medical Assistant 2, you will perform multi‑skilled tasks to assist with patients’ healthcare management and clinical procedures in a culturally competent manner utilizing evidence‑based standards of quality, safety, and service. You will support, supervise, and coordinate patient care activities under the guidance of licensed physicians and nursing staff.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS- Utilize creative methods to support patient’s individual needs and respect patient’s spiritual beliefs, faith, and practices.
- Establish a trusting relationship by creating and maintaining a conducive climate for healing by being authentically present to the patient and family, identifying and managing discomforts, providing emotional support.
- Prioritize and integrate multiple requests and work expectations by performing tasks appropriately, in a timely manner safely and professionally. Communicate clearly and in a timely manner to patients and family, as well as the appropriate team members. Seek assistance when needed.
- Contribute to team building by participating in unit/clinic programs and meetings. Commit to positive morale, using constructive and effective conflict resolution skills.
- Learn and utilize available technology resources for communication, documentation, and locating pertinent information regarding clinical situations, diagnosis, and treatments.
- Attain educational knowledge and competencies that reflect current clinical practice skills. Demonstrate commitment to lifelong learning and to your own professional development and maintenance of knowledge regarding the patient population and assignments.
- Ensure compliance with all State and Federal regulatory guidelines to include Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
- Perform professionally within your clinical scope of practice skills utilizing State, Federal, and University of Miami’s standards, guidelines, relevant statutes, rules, and regulations. Incorporate protocols and standards of care into daily practice.
- Accept and provide focused constructive feedback and guidance with loving kindness in a manner that provides growth and maintains self‑esteem.
- Abide by the standards for ethical behavior, therapeutic communication and protecting the privacy of patient information.
- Assist providers with physical examinations by preparing treatment/exam rooms with proper supplies, instruments, and materials, as directed.
- Understand the importance of medical and surgical asepsis. Prepare patients for physician’s care with basic instruction and information regarding examination procedures.
- Perform vital signs, EKG, phlebotomy, and document in patient’s medical record.
- Cleans and/or sterilizes medical instruments while observing principles of sterile technique. Schedule patients for tests and complete required forms for laboratory work.
- Maintain accurate and complete patient records and documentation. Order, stock, and inventory supplies, and assist in performing clerical duties.
- Adhere to University and unit‑level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS Education- Required:
High School diploma or equivalent. - Graduate from an approved Medical Assistant educational program recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE).

An active and current BLS provider card by the American Heart Association. - Required:
HIV/AIDS Certification:
Florida HIV/AIDS Healthcare Professional Continuing Education (CE) Certification.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
- Strong, effective communication skills with patients, families, and clinical team.
