Position Overview
This Adjunct faculty member provides instruction primarily in Health Information Technology courses and other related areas given appropiate credentials.
Courses may be taught in an array of teaching modalities: MDC In-Person, MDC Live (Learning Interactively in a Virtual Environment), MDC Online (online delivery) and Blended Classes .
What you will be doing
- Teaches in lecture, laboratory and/or clinical settings
- Plans and organizes instructional materials to meet course objectives
- Participates in curriculum development and revision that stress innovation and multicultural emphasis
- Evaluates and advises students
- Participates in departmental and College affairs
- Develops curricula
- Teaches both, evening and weekend classes as needed
- Recruits students
- Serves on committees
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Master's degree in any field; a nd One of the following valid American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) credentials:
Certified Coding Specialist, Certified Coding Associate, Registered Health Information Technician or Registered Health Information Administrator; and 3 years of full-time work and/or instructional experience in the Health Information Management Technology field. - All educational degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
- Possess excellent communication skills
- Must be able to work well with students, faculty, staff and the community
- Must be able to travel between campuses, clinical sites and off-campus offering sites
- Must possess basic computer skills
- Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule that may include working nights and weekends
- Must be able to work effectively in a multi-ethnic/multi-cultural environment
