Core Job Functions- Ensures the development of staff by providing orientation and continuing education programs.
- Assists in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures.
- Provides for the maintenance of necessary supplies and equipment.
- Assists in achieving compliance with accrediting and licensing requirements.
- Serves as a liaison with the operating room and other departments.
- Recommends quality and performance improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and follows departmental and medical center policies and procedures.
- Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures.
- Ensures employees are trained in controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.
- High School or Equivalent
- Graduate of a Vocational Training Program in Central Sterile Processing or a Surgical Tech program required
- CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) IAHCSMM
- CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician) CBSPD
- CST (Certified Surgical Technician) NBSTSA
- BLS certification is required from the American Heart Association
Any combination of relevant education, work experience, and/or certifications will be considered.
Surgical or Central Sterile Processing Experience Preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:- General knowledge of office procedures and operations.
- Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in computer software (i.e. Microsoft Office).
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
- Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files, reports and correspondence.
