Position: Certified Medical Assistant 2

Join to apply for the Certified Medical Assistant 2 role at University of Miami

We are looking for a full‑time Medical Assistant (MA) 2 to work at the UHealth Medical Campus. The MA 2 will assist medical providers and patients with a range of clinical and administrative tasks under the direct supervision of a licensed physician.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist providers with physical examinations, laboratory tests, vital signs, EKG, phlebotomy, and medication administration.
  • Prepare treatment/exam rooms with proper supplies and instruments.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests and maintain accurate patient records.
  • Observe patient signs or symptoms, administer medication safely, and escort or transport patients to various hospital locations.
  • Clean and sterilize medical instruments, stagger supply inventory, and manage clinic schedules.
  • Support patient triage, electronic check‑in, medication reconciliation, and screening tests (vision, hearing, spirometry).
  • Communicate securely with the clinical team via Epic In‑Basket, Secure Chat, and UM email.
  • Attend mandatory Monday and Friday clinical operations meetings and update agenda items.
Core Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduated from an approved Medical Assistant educational program recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Minimum of 2 years of previous experience; additional clerical experience preferred.
  • Accredited MA certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, or NRCMA).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and HIV & AIDS certification (optional).
  • Strong communication skills, time‑management, professionalism, and ability to work in a dynamic environment.
Additional Certifications
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • HIV & AIDS Certification – Florida HIV/AIDS Healthcare Professional CE Certification.
