Overview
The Royal Caribbean Group’s E-commerce Data and Analytics Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full-time Senior Analyst, Data architecture reporting to the Senior Manager RM Dev and systems. The Senior Analyst will play a key role in supporting the migration of the new reservation system database to a new platform by performing detailed data analysis, validation, and transformation activities.
This position is responsible for assessing data quality, mapping legacy structures to the new schema, developing testing scenarios, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of migrated data. The Senior Analyst will collaborate closely with database administrators, developers, and business stakeholders to document requirements, identify risks, and support end-to-end testing and reconciliation. The ideal candidate has strong analytical and SQL skills, experience with large-scale transactional or reservation systems, and a solid understanding of database environments and migration methodologies.
Attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and cross-functional communication are critical for success in this role. The position is onsite and based in Miami, Florida.
- Essential Dutiesand Responsibilities :
- Database management:
Proficiency with different database technologies (Oracle, Databricks). - Familiarity with various database management systems like MySQL, Oracle, and SQL Server.
- SQL Query Optimization:
Writing and optimizing complex SQL queries for efficient data retrieval, manipulation, and reporting. - Troubleshooting and Performance Tuning:
Identifying and resolving issues within Python applications and SQL databases and optimizing performance for scalability and efficiency. - ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) skills:
Designing and implementing ETL processes and workflows. - Knowledge of ETL tools.
- Data warehousing:
Understanding of data warehouse concepts, structures, and best practices; implementing and maintaining data warehousing solutions. - Cloud computing:
Familiarity with cloud platforms and services like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud; ability to design and deploy data solutions in a cloud environment. - Data security:
Ensuring data security, privacy, and compliance with relevant regulations; implementing data encryption, masking, and auditing techniques. - Data quality management:
Implementing data quality frameworks and validation processes; ensuring data accuracy, availability, and reliability. - Working with data scientists, analysts, and other developers to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
- Business acumen:
Understanding business objectives and translating them into data architecture and management strategies; strategic planning for data acquisition, storage, and usage to support business objectives. - Regulatory compliance:
Knowledge of data-related regulations and standards and ensuring that data architecture and practices comply with these standards. - Communication and Documentation:
Creating clear and comprehensive documentation related to data architectures, systems, and processes; effectively communicating complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders; collaborating with departments and IT teams to align data strategies with organizational needs. - Infrastructure / Cloud:
Provision and configure target infrastructure (on-premises or cloud); manage networking, storage, and compute resources; optimize performance and cost in cloud environments. - QA / Testing:
Define and execute migration testing plans (functional, performance, regression); validate data accuracy, completeness, and consistency; conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) with business stakeholders; verify reports, dashboards, and downstream data feeds. - Post-Migration Support:
Monitor system performance and resolve issues; validate ongoing data synchronization (if hybrid); conduct lessons learned and finalize documentation.
- Master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business or related field preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university required (in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field).
- 6-8 years of work experience in related field preferred.
- Experience and Skills:
Proficiency with different database technologies (Oracle, Databricks), knowledge of RDBMS (Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server) and NOSQL, and experience with Cloud databases. - Ability to code in SQL and Python to manipulate data.
- Ability to create conceptual, logical, and physical data models, including normalization/denormalization, OLTP, OLAP, Star schemas.
- Experience with tools to design and implement ETL processes and workflows, implementing Python/Spark-based pipelines that are scalable and optimized for performance.
- Understanding of data warehouse concepts, structures, and best practices, and ability to design and deploy data solutions in a cloud environment.
