BI Data Engineer – Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine

The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine is currently seeking a BI Data Engineer to join our team of professionals.

• Build and maintain processes that move data from collection into storage, organization, and usage systems.
• Ensure data systems run efficiently and are updated as business needs grow.
• Oversee organization and structuring of data for reliable, analyzable information.
• Develop and update reports and dashboards in Power BI to provide actionable insights.
• Partner with staff to assess information needs while keeping data accurate, secure, and responsibly used.
• Provide expertise and guidance on data handling and visualization techniques.
• Document processes and develop clear guides ensuring transparency and accessibility of data workflows.
• Stay current with new tools and approaches to improve data utilization.
• Perform related duties as required.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and four (4) years of related experience; or Master’s degree and two (2) years of experience.

• Experience in data engineering, especially in a BI context.
• Strong expertise in Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, and medallion architectures.
• Familiarity with Databricks and notebook development using PySpark.
• Proficiency in SQL, DAX, and data modeling.
