About the Role

Subway is scaling its Data Science organization in North America to drive transformative growth, customer-centric innovation, and operational excellence. The Vice President of Data Science will lead the strategic development and execution of advanced analytics initiatives, oversee a high-performing team of data scientists and collaborate with cross-functional leaders to embed data-driven decision-making throughout the business.

This role demands a visionary leader with deep technical expertise, strong restaurant experience, business acumen, and a proven track record of delivering enterprise-level data science solutions. The Individual will shape the roadmap for AI/ML adoption, champion analytics maturity, and ensure alignment with Subway’s strategic priorities. Types of analyses will include Guest Analytics, Predictive Customer Lifetime Value, Pricing and Promotional Modeling, Traffic and Business Driving Prediction, and Sales Forecasting.

Responsibilities
  • Define and lead the enterprise data science strategy, aligning with business goals across Marketing, Pricing, Operations, Supply Chain, and Technology. Focus on business performance, competitive landscape, and financial impact.
  • Developing and implementing measurement solutions and predictive analytics across CRM and loyalty channels to increase customer retention and LTV.
  • Build and scale pricing and promotional measurement solutions, including but not limited to price elasticity modeling, promo lift analysis, and scenario planning to help improve franchisee profitability and foresight to traffic and sales impacts.
  • Evolve customer segmentation models, including clustering analysis to identify key cohorts and audience behaviors. In addition, layer in Customer LTV models to grow personalization and customer retention efforts.
  • Structure propensity modeling across key customer cohorts to enable omni-channel personalization contact strategy and enhance customer engagement and growth through Mar Tech and digital campaigns.
  • Build, mentor, and manage a team of data scientists and analysts, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Oversee the development and deployment of scalable analytics products, ensuring technical excellence and business relevance.
  • Partner with executive leadership to identify high-impact opportunities for advanced analytics and AI/ML applications.
  • Drive thought leadership in the QSR industry by applying cutting-edge techniques in predictive modeling, personalization, optimization, and experimentation.
  • Ensure robust data governance, model lifecycle management, and ethical AI practices.
  • Communicate insights and strategic recommendations to senior stakeholders, influencing key decisions with data-driven narratives.
  • Stay ahead of emerging technologies and trends, evaluating their potential impact on Subway’s business. Establish Data Science long term road map inclusive of ownership and people leadership.
