IT Security Associate

Core Responsibilities

• Monitors security alerts and events from SIEM and other security tools.
• Assists with initial triage and analysis of security incidents.
• Escalates confirmed or high‑risk threats to senior analysts or incident response teams.
• Documents incidents, investigations, and response actions in ticketing systems.
• Assists in tuning detection rules and improving alert fidelity.
• Supports vulnerability management and threat intelligence initiatives.
• Participates in shift rotations, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Maintains awareness of current threat landscape and attack techniques.
• Follows established playbooks and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Contributes to continuous improvement of SOC processes and documentation.
• Assists with access verification and identity management tasks, including password resets.
• Operates in a 24/7 environment; shift work is required.
• Participates in on‑call rotations or emergency response as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Adheres to University and unit‑level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

• Associate’s degree in a relevant field.
• Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
• Learning agility: ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
• Teamwork: ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
• Technical proficiency: skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
• Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.
