Core Responsibilities
- Monitors security alerts and events from SIEM and other security tools.
- Assists with initial triage and analysis of security incidents.
- Escalates confirmed or high‑risk threats to senior analysts or incident response teams.
- Documents incidents, investigations, and response actions in ticketing systems.
- Assists in tuning detection rules and improving alert fidelity.
- Supports vulnerability management and threat intelligence initiatives.
- Participates in shift rotations, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Maintains awareness of current threat landscape and attack techniques.
- Follows established playbooks and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Contributes to continuous improvement of SOC processes and documentation.
- Assists with access verification and identity management tasks, including password resets.
- Operates in a 24/7 environment; shift work is required.
- Participates in on‑call rotations or emergency response as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Adheres to University and unit‑level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

- Associate’s degree in a relevant field.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
- Learning agility: ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
- Teamwork: ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
- Technical proficiency: skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
- Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.
