Legal Assistant III – Sexual Battery/Child Abuse Unit

The Legal Assistant III supports the Assistant State Attorneys in the Sexual Battery/Child Abuse Unit. This position will be responsible for handling confidential, sensitive and complex sexual battery/child abuse cases, which includes graphic details of horrific incidents and exposure to profane language. The work schedule for this position is 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

• Providing assistance to the ASAs in trial on complex and highly confidential Sexual Battery/Child Abuse cases
• Preparing daily court, supplemental and arrest warrant calendars for Assistant State Attorneys
• Reviewing and distributing weekly ASA audits
• Drafting and distributing correspondence
• Processing incoming mail, subpoenas and ordering supplies
• Maintaining attorneys’ schedules and coordinating meetings
• Conducting extensive phone contact with victims and witnesses
• Coordinating travel arrangements and processing expense reimbursements
• Scheduling pre-file conferences, forensic interviews, state depositions and subpoena duces tecum
• Ordering transcripts, DCF/RTC reports and any necessary records for cases
• Ordering photos, body worn cam videos, police reports and other supporting documentation from additional agencies
• Completing requests for Assistant State Attorneys
• Providing coverage for co-workers as needed
li>Performing other related duties as assigned

• High School Diploma or its equivalent
• Two (2) years of general clerical/secretarial experience

• Possessing working knowledge of community resources
• Possessing working knowledge of HYDRA, CJIS,  and E-Notify programs
• Possessing one (1) year of Legal Assistant experience
