Director of Project Accounting

We’re partnering with a well-established, privately held real estate development firm to hire a Director of Project Accounting. This is a senior leadership role overseeing project accounting across a large, multi-entity development portfolio. This position provides strategic oversight of project accounting operations, financial reporting, controls, and process optimization.

• Lead the project accounting function across multiple active development projects
• Oversee job costing, capitalized costs, budget-to-actual tracking, and draw activity
• Direct monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
• Ensure accurate financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP
• Establish and maintain strong internal controls, policies, and accounting calendars
• Partner with finance leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning
• Lead audit and tax coordination with external advisors
• Drive system enhancements, process improvements, and scalability initiatives
• Collaborate closely with development, legal, and operations teams
• Mentor and support senior accounting leadership and team development

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred)
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including senior leadership
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, project accounting, and multi-entity structures
• Experience with real estate accounting systems (Yardi, MRI, Sage, Viewpoint, or similar)
• Advanced Excel skills and a hands‑on leadership style
