Position
Sr. Manager, Business Operations – Department of Neurology, University of Miami Health System (UHealth)
Job OverviewFull‑time senior manager working onsite to evaluate, administer, and manage all business and administrative matters, including budget, operations, programs, and personnel administration for the assigned department.
Core Job Functions- Manage, implement, coordinate, plan and evaluate business operations of the department/division, including statistical, performance and managerial reporting, budget support, capital planning, and process improvement.
- Develop and enforce annual budget in accordance with University guidelines and policies; monitor and report monthly budget variances.
- Advance strategic financial plan and recommend execution to senior management.
- Create and manage policies and guidelines to carry out University and department mission.
- Oversee review, approval and reporting of all expenditures; review and approve financial transactions.
- Establish support systems to ensure availability of cost‑effective supplies, equipment and management information.
- Monitor contractual obligations and ensure consistency with departmental budget and goals.
- Evaluate internal controls and approval processes, recommending improvements for fiscal integrity and operational efficiency.
- Implement HR actions (hiring, terminations, salary, etc.), recruit, train, and prepare performance reports for staff.
- Ensure internal controls and compliance with University policies; train employees on controls and policies.
- Assist department administrators with preparation of service functions to sustain clinical, educational, and research operations.
- Assist with monthly productivity reporting and dissemination.
- Manage faculty/staff credentialing, onboarding and off‑boarding duties.
- Assist administrators in submitting documents to the Departmental HR office and Faculty Affairs Office (new hires, reallocations, reappointments, promotions, tenure, overload payments).
- Interview prospective employees and provide recommendations to administrators.
- Manage daily operations and performance of administrative staff to meet department goals.
- Assist in preparation of capital project budget for the department.
- Provide information and ideas regarding strategy and operational initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
- Any appropriate combination of education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.
- Effective oral and written communication.
- Ability to maintain interpersonal relationships.
- Budget management within constraints.
- Leadership of department operations.
- Planning, delegating, and supervising work.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software.
