The Vice President, Strategic Sourcing is responsible for the strategy and all, monetarily, operational, and environmental risk decision making for the sourcing, purchasing and managing of all the fuel requirements for the entire Corporation reporting to the Chief Procurement Officer. It is responsible for establishing and leading the execution of the sourcing strategies for the total Fuel and Lube spend. This role is responsible for driving towards a competitive advantage in the industry for fuel sourcing and ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the fuel operations including but not limited to on time delivery, assuring compliance with environmental regulations for fuel etc.
Estimated annual spend annually is between $1 to $2 billion.
The position provides full fuel management support and is the lead source to Corporate executives in areas of finance, environmental, regulatory and all other fuel related issues. This key role will partner with all Operating companies in leveraging our scale and creating added value to the enterprise.
Develop corporate strategy for fuel alternatives and sourcing innovated ideas to look at new alternatives and methods of regulatory and environmental compliance through global sourcing, commercial negotiations, logistics management.
This role will lead a team of ~8 people at the center and will be the key strategic leader on fuel related matters inside the company and the key focal point externally.
Travel Requirements: up to 25% extensive worldwide travel to port locations, Operating companies, industry meetings, project initiatives, and Supplier management. Heavy Industry representation at CLIA, and regulatory compliance meetings discussing fuel related issues. Must visit all Brands annually to maintain the service oriented relationship and look for new strategies and ideas to improve.
Corporate Representation at CLIA, SCMF, USCG, International Bunker Industry Association and other regulatory groups.
Speaking engagements promoting the company fuel and regulatory strategy plans. Some travel is challenging due to visits to marine bunker delivery equipment and engine rooms in tight spaces requiring climbing, stretching etc.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Manage the fuel department of 8 to 10 staff to exceed the fuel savings and on time expectations of the enterprise.
Exceptional leadership abilities to lead and coordinate Fuel supply chain to drive value with Operating companies on a fuel spend up to $2.5Bn annual spend.
Develop and lead the future fuel strategies for the Corporation, i.e. LNG for future.
Guide and oversee the Management of daily purchasing and strategic sourcing of up to $2.5B in fuel spend on global basis in over 170 locations worldwide from diverse vendor base of over 155 suppliers.
Identify, source and negotiate term based contracts in various ports
Supervise all administrative activities of the department transactions annually of the Brands
Constantly look to enable new alternatives and cost savings initiatives to exceed KPI’s and benchmarking of the fuel process.
Simplify the processes for spot buys of commodity
Train and facilitate the further development of the team
Establish and maintain strong commercial relationships with suppliers, transportation companies, regulatory agencies, port authorities and business interests.
Direct vendor management, due diligence and interaction, manage our supplier to our corporate standard
Provide executive level financial reporting and guidance on fuel costs (forecasts, spot prices, executive management reports and fuel numbers).
Manage the monthly and ad hoc process for fuel budgets and planning, execution and creativity in market arbitrage and alternatives, with ultimate responsibility for entire fuel process and spend meeting compliance.
Support Executive and Corporate Finance with any Hedge and risk management programs.
Supervise the management of the quality and claim function with emphasis on fuel quality, received quantities, logistics and vendor relations.
