• Material handling / sorting – pushing, pulling, picking, lifting, carrying, and filling up hoppers, boxes, and conveyor belts
• Unpacking boxes using box cutters, separating plastics, zip ties, blister packs, and other packaging materials
• Disassembling small equipment, cutting wires, torqueing pipe fittings, removing bolts, automobile parts, and appliance parts
• Working with recycling equipment for processing metal products (e.g., metal shears, band saw, wire strippers)
• Directing traffic of yard vehicles
• Performing light facility maintenance such as painting, scraping, moving furniture and equipment
• Maintaining machinery – selecting and using tools properly, pulling and installing parts, assisting in machinery repair
• Housekeeping tasks including sweeping, cleaning, shoveling, and debris collection
• Moderate and periodic landscaping work
• Cleaning up the work area at the end of each shift
• Organizing materials for efficient space utilization
• Disposing of waste materials properly
• Inspecting work areas to ensure cleanup is completed
• Ensuring ongoing effective housekeeping for safety and hygiene

• Unloading pallets, boxes, and bundles
• Handling and sorting materials as described above
• Working with recycling equipment for processing metals
• Traffic control within the yard
• Performing maintenance and housekeeping duties
• Participating in landscaping activities
• Maintaining a clean and organized work environment

• Must pass a medical physical and drug test
• Must pass a background check
• High school diploma or GED preferred; foreign education acceptable
• Bi-lingual skills (English & Spanish) are a plus
• Effective communication skills; ability to understand instructions; basic math skills
• Willingness to learn metal sorting, equipment maintenance, and PPE use

• Compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies and regulations
