Overview
The Detail Inspector works in accordance with the current technical data provided in the manufacturer’s instructions for continued airworthiness service bulletins, service letters, preliminary hidden‑damage inspections, in‑process and final inspections on civil aviation aircraft, airworthiness directives, government and industry‑standard practices, and other FAA‑approved data.
Responsibilities- Ensuring that they are thoroughly familiar with the inspection methods, techniques, aids, tools, and equipment used within their assigned area of responsibility.
- Maintaining proficiency in using the inspection aids in their assigned area of responsibility. Understanding the current specifications involving inspection aids, used to perform inspections, are in proper working order and the proper calibration information is affixed.
- Ensuring that the inspection tools and equipment, including inspection aids, used to perform inspections are in proper working order and the proper calibration information is affixed.
- Understanding the current specifications involving inspection tolerances, limitations, and procedures established by the manufacturer of the article being inspected, and must understand, speak, and write the English language.
- Ensuring all inspections are properly performed and recorded, and all records are properly executed before final approval for return to service of articles maintained or altered by this repair station.
- Perform disassembly and repair of all types of aircraft engine usable parts.
- Assist with the reconfiguration or reconditioning of equipment.
- Perform scripted test procedures to isolate the failure to sub‑assembly and/or component level.
- Perform scripted repair procedure to repair and functionally test part or product.
- Assist Repair Technicians/Engineers/Technical Services as required.
- Maintain constant adherence to inventory control practices and procedures.
- Interpret OEM manuals and router instructions.
- High School or equivalent.
- Hold and airframe and/or power plant license.
- Must possess exceptional attention to detail.
- Basic PC knowledge.
- Proficiency in working with all hand tools and pneumatic tools.
- Ability to isolate failures within a complete rework of parts and assemblies.
- Ability to perform within company quality standard.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Must be fluent in English (written and verbal).
- Knowledge of troubleshooting and repair of parts and concepts preferred.
- Some knowledge of troubleshooting concepts.
- Ability to learn and perform basic repairs.
- Ability to read and understand router and OEM manuals.
Work is performed in a shop environment and requires the ability to perform extensive standing, driving, walking, and climbing; to lift up to 50 lbs regularly; to manipulate up to 100 lbs with assistance. Must be able to bend, stoop, climb to reach materials, and work in a noisy environment.
