Job Description
Summary:
Maintain sewing machines in working order both single needle and double needle equipment. Basic knowledge of zigzag, overlock/safety stitch, cover stitch, Bartack, Flat seamer, belt loop, buttonhole, eyelet and programmable machines.
- Knowledge/ability to repair single & multi needle lockstitch & chain stitch, bar-tack, buttonhole, felling, belt loop, automatic Velcro machines
- Be able to disassemble & assemble sewing machines in order to fix them and ability to change needles, identify defective parts including sewing presser feet, needle guards, eye protectors, needle plates, trimmers/cutter and more complex parts.
- Do preventive maintenance on equipment ( change oil, blow motors adjust machines, check times, lubricate).
- Turn off/off compressors, boilers, creasers/fusing machines.
- Monitor air leaks from production lines.
- Maintain order and clean the mechanic workshop.
- Follow all safety regulations regarding lock out/tag out
- Repair machine lamps, thread stands, adjust electrical cables and air hoses as needed.
- Ensure all machines have safety equipment in place including belt protectors and other safety guards and replace all broken/missing needle, belt and eye guards in accordance with safety regulations
- Move sewing equipment when required
- Able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
