Advanced Practice Registered Nurse – Obstetrics and Gynecology, Gynecologic Oncology (Full Time)
Position:
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) specializing in obstetrics/gynecology and gynecologic oncology inpatient care at the University of Miami Health System.
- Conduct daily inpatient rounds independently or with the GYN Oncologist.
- Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate medical care plans.
- Manage acute and chronic gynecologic oncology issues.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests and lab results.
- Prescribe medications and treatments per hospital privileges and protocols.
- Coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges of GYO patients.
- Collaborate with surgical teams, medical oncology, radiation oncology, palliative care, and other specialties.
- Participate in tumor boards and care planning meetings as needed.
- Ensure continuity of care during transitions (e.g., post‑op to step‑down unit, hospital to outpatient).
- Perform bedside procedures such as pelvic exams, wound care, I&Ds, and catheter placement.
- Assist in surgical follow‑up and post‑operative management.
- Complete timely documentation in the EMR including H&E, progress notes, orders, and discharge summaries.
- Adhere to hospital and department protocols, policies, and regulatory standards.
- Provide education and counseling to patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment, and recovery.
- Address patient concerns, symptoms, and side‑effect management.
- Serve as a point of contact for in‑hospital issues and questions.
- Precept or mentor APRN/PA students or new hires as needed.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and provide clinical guidance and education.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ensure documentation of complete physical examinations and comprehensive health histories.
- Utilize age‑appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic tests.
- Implement interventions to support patient physiologic stability.
- Assist with care in accordance with facility, state, and federal regulations.
- Monitor intervention effectiveness and facilitate transfer of care between settings.
- Make appropriate referrals and provide educational tools for decision‑making.
- Adhere to University and unit‑level policies and safeguard University assets.
- Education: Master’s degree in Nursing.
- Certification and Licensing: Valid State of Florida APRN License;
Acute Care Certification required. - Experience: 2+ years of relevant experience preferred; at least 1 year as an APRN in OB/GYN or oncology.

- Ability to prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.

- Effective oral and written communication.
