Larkin Community Hospital South Miami Campus is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Infection Control Department. The RN will play a vital role in the surveillance, prevention, and control of infections within the hospital, contributing to a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This position involves interdisciplinary collaboration, data analysis, staff education, and active participation in infection prevention initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform routine surveillance of hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) using evidence-based standards.
* Collaborate with physicians, nurses, environmental services, and other departments to ensure compliance with infection prevention practices.
* Conduct investigations of infection outbreaks and recommend appropriate containment measures.
* Participate in infection control risk assessments and quality improvement initiatives.
* Educate hospital staff on infection prevention protocols, including hand hygiene, isolation precautions, and PPE usage.
* Monitor and support compliance with local, state, and federal infection control regulations (e.g., CDC, OSHA, The Joint Commission).
* Assist with policy and procedure development, review, and revision related to infection control.
* Compile and analyze infection-related data; prepare reports for internal committees and regulatory agencies as required.
* Participate in emergency preparedness and response related to infectious disease threats
Qualifications:
* Current RN license in the state of Florida
* BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification from American Heart Association
* ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) Certification from American Heart Association
* Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred;
Master's degree preferred.
* Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred or must be obtained within [12-24] months of hire.
* Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience in a hospital setting; experience in infection prevention or epidemiology highly desirable.
* Strong understanding of infection control principles, epidemiology, and public health.
* Excellent communication, organizational, and critical-thinking skills.
* Bilingual (English & Spanish) Preferred.
* Proficient in data collection, analysis, and interpretation; familiarity with NHSN reporting a plus.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Work Scheidule:
Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 4:30PM
