Research Associate - Per Diem

The Research Associate 2, SOM (N) contributes to the University’s research activities under the supervision of senior staff. Moreover, the incumbent understands, interprets, and complies with research policies and protocols.

• Performs specialized and complex experiments/studies.
• Participates in the publication of significant research results.
• Advances expertise through education, training, and research.
• Writes extramural grants/proposals to gain support when appropriate.
• Collects, prepares, analyzes, dissects, and evaluates specimens and tissue cultures.
• Weighs and anesthetizes laboratory animals for experiments.
• Operates sensitive and highly complex laboratory equipment.
• Performs calculations to complete research test results.
• Performs photography and dark room processing.
• Participates in training sessions and workshops.
• Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

• Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field required
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience

• Performing cellular assays related pTfh frequency and antigen induced ICC in short term cultures, proliferation of pTfh, memory B cell responses by ELISPOT, plasma assays for antibodies against influenza vaccine, and other molecular biology, biochemical or lab techniques as required in the experiment design.
• Assists in NIH funded projects and CFAR activities including isolation of PBMC from blood.
• Performing experiments as planned, compiling, recording and analyzing results.
• Preparing reports of research findings for public presentation through seminars or conferences or for use in manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
• Keeping logs or electronic records of research protocols and results as required.
• Participates in the publication of significant results.
• Interpreting and presenting the findings of literature searches in the area(s) of research focus.
