CoreJob Summary
The Research Support Specialist performs a variety of duties involved in the collection, compilation, and documentation of research data related to the assigned research studies. The incumbent also assists with the implementation of daily study activities and provides statistical support to these activities.
Core Job Functions- Research, collect, analyze, and synthesize data and maintain databases.
- Conduct quality assurance checks, report status of research activities, and submit monthly activity logs for protocols.
- Organize and coordinate community working group meetings for protocol activities.
- Serve as primary point of contact for community partners and supervise and oversee research data collection at protocol venues.
- Review study progress, identify areas of opportunity, and recommend solutions.
- Prepare and update study research procedures manuals.
- Assist with the preparation of grant proposals by processing regulatory documents for all institutions and offices involved.
- Contribute to the publication and presentation of significant results and write and edit material for publication and presentation.
- Maintain research files and respond to phone calls on the research study phone line.
- Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required.
Experience:
No previous experience required.

- Perform all recruitment-related aspects of the day-to-day conduct of the study including screening phone calls and the pre-screening of medical records.
- Determine potential patient eligibility through medical records including community and internal recruitment sources, and assist in retention/follow‑up efforts.
- Provide research support to the Principal investigator and project director.
- Assist with the maintenance of databases (e.g., scheduling, follow‑up), and tracking participants.
- Assist with data coding, cleaning, and entry, maintaining participant data files and general data management functions.
- Ensure adherence to protocol, training, quality control, and implementation of study procedures.
- Assist in report preparation (e.g., tracking recruitment site, refusals, exclusions, etc.).
- Assist with collection/transport of blood samples to designated laboratories.
