OverviewThe Research Associate 2 contributes to the University’s research activities under the supervision of senior staff. The position involves performing a variety of experiments in support of research in immune recovery or immune activation in the context of stem cell transplantation or cell therapy.
Core Responsibilities- Conduct laboratory assignments, including preparing and preserving peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) from blood samples and generating CAR T cells.
- Participate in scheduling and performing experiments related to immunology and leukocyte biology studies.
- Perform experimental procedures, maintain accurate records, and assist in interpreting experimental data.
- Operate routine scientific laboratory equipment.
- Process specimens obtained from healthy donors and clinical patient samples.
- Perform assays: monoclonal antibody binding assays, ELISA, flow cytometry, immunoprecipitation assays, Western blot, PCR, RT-PCR, agarose gel electrophoresis, viral titer quantification, signal transduction assays, protein purification, and fluorescence microscopy.
- Assist with scientific literature searches and updating laboratory bibliography.
- Support preparation of manuscripts, grant proposals, and presentations of data.
- Prepare required monthly/quarterly/annual reports, including grant progress reports and environmental health and safety reports.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology, Immunology, or Biology (preferred).
- Minimum 2 years of relevant academic research laboratory experience.
- Experience with processing blood samples, flow cytometry, and advanced knowledge in Biology.
- Data collection, organization, and analysis.
- Problem recognition, analysis, and solution.
- Critical decision-making and sound judgment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of laboratory equipment, methods, safety practices, and molecular biology–immunology techniques.
