About OMAKAI

OMAKAI is a traditional sushi restaurant with one aim: to be known for blowing people's minds. Everything we do rests on three guarantees: warm rice for contrast, crispy nori for texture, and kind service. Every guest, every visit.

We serve high-quality traditional sushi at an accessible price, and we are growing across South Florida and expanding to other cities nationally with our full-service restaurants and hand roll bars. We aim to hold ourselves to a five-star hotel standard in a casual dining room, which means the details matter here more than they do in most restaurants.

We treat every guest with genuine kindness and focus heavily on execution. Our team runs on accountability, reliability, and doing what we say we will do.

Position Overview

We are looking for a highly motivated and hardworking Dishwasher. No experience is required. Restaurant or dish pit experience is a plus, and we will train the right person. This seat is a starting point, and dishwashers who work hard and want to learn have a clear path to line cook and sushi chef positions.

The Dishwasher keeps the whole operation running. You wash and return dishes, glassware, and equipment to the line fast, keep the floors, bathrooms, and dining room clean, and support our line cooks with prep, rice, and restocking. The kitchen cannot plate without you. We are looking for someone who takes pride in a spotless, fully stocked kitchen, works hard through a long shift, and knows what excellence looks like.

Responsibilities

Plateware & Equipment Sanitation

  • Wash, sanitize, and return all dishes, glassware, and kitchen equipment to the line quickly so no station ever waits
  • Return every piece spotless, and rewash anything that is not clean
  • Keep the dish area organized and the sink clear so the work never backs up
  • Work fast and smart when dishes pile up during a rush instead of letting the line stall
  • Tell the kitchen manager right away when a piece of equipment is broken

Facility Sanitation

  • Keep the floors, bathrooms, and dining room clean throughout service
  • Walk the restaurant regularly and clean up messes as soon as you see them
  • Bag and take out trash safely, and keep the garbage area clean
  • Sweep and mop the kitchen and dining floors at the start and end of every shift
  • Complete opening, running, and closing side work every shift

Support Our Line Cooks

  • Help with prep work as directed by the line cooks
  • Wash and cook rice to recipe
  • Restock ingredients and supplies so the line never runs short
  • Jump in where the kitchen needs help without being asked

Qualifications

  • No experience required, dishwashing or restaurant experience preferred
  • Safe Serve, allergy compliance, and sexual harassment prevention certifications required, and all can be obtained during training. We cover the cost of the sexual harassment prevention certificate
  • Able to work nights, weekends, and holidays, and to stay through the end of a shift
  • Able to handle knives, glassware, and cleaning chemicals safely
  • Able to follow instructions and food safety rules exactly
  • Able to keep up the pace through a rush
  • Communicates well with the kitchen team and management
  • Reliable transportation to and from the restaurant
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Working Conditions

  • Indoor kitchen environment in a restaurant that handles fish, seafood, vegetables, fruits, wheat products, rice, dry seaweed, sauces, and many other food and beverage products
  • Candidates with food or chemical allergies must inform management during the application process
  • Noise levels vary depending on how busy the restaurant is
  • Wet, warm dish area, with regular use of plastic…
