Overview
The Pathology Department at the University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for a Research Assistant 1 (A) to provide research investigator support while following established protocols.
Core Job Functions- Set up and operate scientific apparatus and perform minor repairs.
- Prepare correspondence, answer phones, and maintain bibliographies.
- Order laboratory supplies and maintain culture media reagents.
- Review and edit materials for publication, prepare publication schedules, maintain appropriate logs and study notebooks.
- Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
CORE QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes- Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
- Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
- Ability to process confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
- Commitment to the University’s core values.
- Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
- Report directly to the Manager of the Research Laboratory.
- Follow standard operating procedures and ensure safety and quality standards.
- Receive study samples, complete requisition forms, prepare specimens, perform minor instrumentation maintenance, and maintain logs.
- Perform specimen analysis, troubleshoot related issues, replenish test bench supplies, scan and data entry, respond to telephone result inquiries, and complete record logs and administrative duties as requested by supervisor.
