Job DescriptionData Center Technician
Sycomp is looking for a skilled Low Voltage Technician to join our Engineering team. In this role, you will primarily work on Infrastructure cabling for new office builds or relocation, including cable installation, fiber optic cabling, cat 5 and 6 wiring. Our ideal candidate has some experience working with low voltage systems.
Essential Functions
· Integration, installation and configuration of server, network, storage equipment in racks and cabling
· Experience installing and terminating optical fiber cable, Cat5 and Cat6 commercial environments
· Expertise in integration, burn-in testing and documentation
· Install new Wireless access points, cabling and mounting kits
· Knowledge of RJ45 terminations including and patch panels
· Able to use Fluke test equipment
· Test all systems and troubleshoot any issues
Qualifications and Skills
· Knowledge of x86 architecture
· Knowledge of Linux
· Ability to research and analyze hardware and software issues
· Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Ability to effectively work on and prioritize multiple concurrent projects
· Ability to finish large scale repetitive tasks in an assembly line environment
· Self-motivation and team-player attitude
· Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn new technologies and paradigms
· Ability and willingness to learn technologies quickly and proficiently
· A+, Server+, Security+ or Network+ Certifications preferred
