HVAC Journeyman

HVAC Journeyman – Daikin Applied Americas – Miami, FL (Onsite)

This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance for commercial and industrial HVAC equipment, including large and small rooftop units, split systems, chillers, and boilers.

• Perform service of equipment including inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality (chillers, fan coils, water source heat pumps, applied air handling units, rooftop units, cooling towers, condenser tubes).
• Repair and replace defective equipment, components, or wiring.
• Maintain and inspect equipment to identify potential problems to prevent premature and unexpected breakdowns or callbacks.
• Perform intermediate and advanced independent diagnostics, troubleshooting, pipe fitting, and brazing of commercial HVAC equipment.
• Conduct warranty service application by independently inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality of all commercial HVAC equipment.
• Educate technical and non-technical customers on proper use of equipment, maintenance schedule, and operating manual usage.
• Lead and participate in the rebuild and retrofit of commercial HVAC level units, directing apprentice technicians through hands‑on demonstration.
• Record and report billing, inventory, timecards, technician tip reports, and other articles as required and in a timely manner.
• Download programs into commercial HVAC equipment and microcontrollers and analyze chiller trend data to ensure optimal performance.
• Participate in available training through regional technician trainers and off‑site learning modules.
• Maintain all required certifications and continue to develop new skill sets.
• Ensure standards, policies, procedures, and maintenance of a clean work area are always upheld.
• Complete job‑site hazard assessment prior to initiating service and adhere to Daikin Applied and customer safety policies and OSHA guidelines.

• Factory certified training, refrigerant certification, or other professional on‑the‑job training in the HVAC industry.

• 5+ years related experience with increasing responsibility or 7+ related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Accepted as Journeyman by the union.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Technical school with HVAC certificate or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Rotational emergency call support.
• Required license(s) and/or training card as required by local law district.
• Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

• Member of local union or willing to join the union.
• Commercial HVAC industry experience.
• Previous experience mentoring less experienced technicians.
• OSHA 10 within 90 days of hire (Daikin provides training during onboarding).
• Current first aid/CPR card.

The typical hourly pay rate for this position ranges from $43.38 – $46.00 (Union Scale +) in Florida
. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
