Job Summary:

Valmont Industries is currently seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Maintenance Technician / Electrician to join our Coatings Site team in Miami. This hands-on role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and mechanical systems—including welders, overhead cranes, hoists, AC/DC motors, and other critical production equipment. The position also includes the monitoring of the tank’s chemistry, updating safety and EHS compliance documentation, and supporting continuous plant operations.

Starting pay $28.00+ /hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintenance & Electrical:

  • Perform preventive, scheduled, and emergency maintenance across a range of equipment and systems.

  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems (480V, 3-phase, AC/DC, control voltage), including welders and cranes.

  • Install or repair equipment such as generators, transformers, motors, circuit breakers, conduit systems, controllers, and heating units.

  • Locate and diagnose faults using blueprints, schematics, or testing instruments.

  • Maintain overhead cranes, forklifts, hoists, and CNC equipment, including replacement of bearings, seals, and motors.

  • Use PLC logic for troubleshooting and repair.

  • Adjust machinery and systems to optimize safe, efficient operation.

  • Perform carpentry, welding, plumbing, and basic fabrication as required.

Environmental, Safety & Compliance:

  • Monitor and maintain tank chemistry for compliance and safe operation.

  • Update EHS inspections and safety/compliance programs.

  • Follow all Valmont safety policies and wear always required PPE.

  • Report safety concerns and assist in implementing corrective actions.

  • Participate actively in department safety initiatives.

Operational Support:

  • Assist with new equipment installation and setup.

  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, production, and management regarding maintenance issues and timelines.

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and safety checks.

  • Cross-train in various maintenance disciplines to enhance team efficiency.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Minimum 3 years of industrial maintenance and electrical experience in a manufacturing/fabrication environment.

  • Basic understanding of 480V electrical systems, AC/DC motors, and PLC troubleshooting, with hands-on experience in assisting with maintenance and repairs.

  • Certified (or ability to certify) in forklift, man-lift, and crane operations.

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.

  • Good communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Basic computer skills (email, reporting, safety software).

Preferred:

  • 1+ years of experience with overhead cranes, forklifts, and power tools in an industrial environment.

  • Valid State Electrical License.

  • Familiarity with tank chemical management and galvanizing environments.

  • Prior experience in EHS reporting or compliance-related activities.

  • Ability to work in fast-paced, high-volume production settings.
