McKenzie Craft is a boutique fabrication studio specializing in custom millwork and metalwork for high-end residential and commercial spaces. From cabinetry and furniture to flooring and ceilings, our team builds complex, design-driven projects with care and precision.
We are looking for a skilled Lead Carpenter to join our shop team. This role is ideal for a carpenter who is confident with hands-on production work and installation, understands custom fabrication, and values teamwork, quality, and craftsmanship.
What You'll Do
- Build and assemble custom architectural millwork including cabinets, furniture, panels, trim, flooring, and ceiling features.
- Interpret work orders, prints, sketches, and specifications to understand and execute build requirements.
- Perform accurate and timely installation work on both residential and commercial job sites.
- Execute a wide range of carpentry tasks including lamination, stain-grade trimming, cabinetry, remodeling, framing (wood and steel), and demolition.
- Safely and effectively operate all necessary tools and equipment.
- Set up and dismantle scaffolding as needed for builds or installations.
- Clean, store, and maintain tools and equipment to ensure safety and performance.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support project completion.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
- Ability to squat, lift, stretch, and bend to reach all areas of the workspace
- Must be able to work in overhead and below-machinery positions
- Must wear steel-toed boots
- Required PPE: protective eyewear, hearing protection, and hard hat
- Adherence to McKenzie Craft safety guidelines at all times
- May be required to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Thorough understanding of woodworking techniques and tool
- Ability to read and follow technical drawings and blueprints
- Strong installation skills and ability to work on active construction sites
- Solid math and measuring skills for precise fabrication and fit
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to draw sketches to communicate project needs
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of formal apprenticeship program or equivalent training and experience
- Prior experience in custom millwork or finish carpentry preferred
- Work on high-end, custom-crafted projects with intricate design details.
