Campus Recreation is seeking experienced group fitness instructors to join our dynamic fitness team. Candidates must hold a current, nationally accredited group fitness certification and demonstrate a strong passion for motivating and supporting participants in achieving their health and wellness goals. Our group fitness program emphasizes professionalism, evidence-based practices and a high-energy environment. Responsibilities include leading safe and engaging group fitness classes, creating class formats for different fitness levels, and providing ongoing encouragement and instruction to participants.

• Ability to lead engaging, and safe group fitness classes for a large student population, including individuals of varying abilities and fitness levels.
• Proficiency in modifying exercises and adapting programming in real-time to meet participants' needs while supporting a safe environment.
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
• Clear and effective verbal communication skills to deliver instruction, motivation, and feedback in a group setting.
• Commitment to maintaining a consistent teaching schedule and communicating in advance regarding absences or coverage needs.
• Dependable and punctual.
• Instructors are expected to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start of each class to allow adequate time for preparation and setup.
• Adhere to all university and Campus Recreation policies, procedures, and professional conduct standards.
• Physical ability to demonstrate exercises, stand for extended periods, and safely lift and move equipment (minimum of 45 lbs overhead).
• Dedication to ongoing professional development and maintenance of a current, nationally recognized group fitness certification (e.g., ACE, AFAA, NASM, ACSM).
• Enthusiasm for contributing to a positive, student‑centered fitness culture focused on wellness, inclusion, and personal growth.

• Valid nationally accredited group fitness certification and/or license in the format of instruction
• Current CPR/ AED/ First Aid certification (or obtain within 30 days of hire)

As a temporary employee, you will not be eligible to participate in all employee benefit programs (e.g., paid leave, retirement, or tuition reimbursement).

Under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), a temporary employee who works on average 30 hours or more per week may be eligible to enroll in health care benefits. As a temporary employee, you are also eligible to enroll in supplemental plans (e.g. dental, vision,) which requires full payment on your part.
