This position will support the agency's mission by maintaining and repairing highways, bridges, and related infrastructure to ensure public safety and transportation efficiency. It will involve the use of construction tools and equipment, performing vehicle inspections and maintenance, and working in diverse outdoor conditions. The position also requires effective communication, the ability to follow instructions, and collaboration with team members to complete tasks safely and efficiently.

Annual salary range:
$36,520.45 - $47,261.76
A competitive area differential (cad) additive in the amount of $1,934.40 will be added to the annual salary.
Your specific responsibilities:
Upon receipt of the required cdl instructional permit or license; operates a variety of vehicles and mechanized equipment to include backhoe, tractors with attachments, crew cabs, and dump truck. Performs pre-trip inspection/minor maintenance on vehicles/equipment that they are operating. Cleans and washes equipment.
Uses a variety of hand, pneumatic, and electrical tools to maintain bridges and roadways. Performs independent manual labor incidental to job assignments at an intermediate level of complexity with minimal supervision.
Performs rough carpentry, masonry, painting and/or assist in the assembly and erection of highway signs.
Performs maintenance of traffic control.
The successful candidate will have the following required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Knowledge of:
* typical construction measuring tools, equipment, or instruments and standard safety techniques.
Skills in:
* operating a variety of hand and power tools.
* operating and perform pre-trip inspection/minor maintenance on vehicles and/or mechanized equipment that they are operating.
Ability to:
* read and understand job-related materials and fill out reports and forms.
* maintain and repair highways, bridges and/or other highway structures.
* communicate both verbally and in writing, including following oral/written instructions.
* develop and maintain effective working relationships with others.
* lift, carry, and handle up to 50 pounds.
* stoop, climb, squat, push, pull, crawl or bend on a frequent basis.
* work outdoors in various weather conditions, on various terrains and at various heights or in high volume traffic.
* stand for an extended period of time, operate motor vehicles and other mechanical equipment.
